CONCLUSIONS
1. As we have stated through the entire blog, we are totally aware that the education of the future is going to be focused on online programs. Currently, this is becoming more popular and more people are using this modality; that is why it is important to be in touch with the new technologies in order to be more competent.
2. As Pletka stated in his book Educating the Net Generation: How to Engage Students in the 21st Century, teacher effectiveness depends on the ability to adapt instruction to the needs of today’s learners, so that, having in mind an online learning process it is required to support learners to find by themselves what their interests and learning styles are.
3. For being an effective self-directed learner, it is compulsory to be resourceful in order to find information, to communicate through different ways, to avoid procrastination and especially to have a good management of our times and establish an agenda, here it is where checklists take an valuable meaning.
4. For every proposed activity or task, is necessary that teachers figure out what students know and believe about a specific topic and how they can engage to new ideas (Shulman, 1987), so once more it is demonstrated that teachers cannot forget that motivating students requires an understanding of what individual students believe about themselves, what they care about, and what tasks are likely to give them enough success to encourage them to work hard to learn (Grimmett & MacKinnon,1992).
5. Learning through technology and online programs allows a greater access to information and knowledge and it offers different options to interact socially. At the same time, it makes revision easier and of course it helps to construct self-assessment processes.
6. One of the most effective ways to learn a second language is through the communication and culture exchanges and apropos English has become in one of the most useful tools to know new people, new countries and to turn down previous existent barriers, it is easy to propose activities that enhance learning through the interaction with the learners social and cultural context.
7. Online Learning has emerged as a new option to extend knowledge to our students and establish a stronger connection by involving them in their own process and making them more conscious about their responsibilities and the importance of being autonomous and committed in order to accomplish not only the previous established goals but their own. (Benson, 2006).
8. Regarding that students feel technology is easy to handle because it allows them to get in touch and keep connected to all the people that is part of their social life (Sawhill, 2007), it is a duty for teachers to create a new way to develop classes and offer students different opportunities to improve their communicative skills and apply them by being in touch with their context.
9. When we are going to face a learning process, we must analyze our strengths and needs in order to design an action plan to achieve our goals.
10. Without mattering if a learning process is developed in an online or real environment; it is essential to take always into account students’ feelings, desires, expectations, motives, interests and needs (Hiemstra, 1999).
